Are you heading to University this September? Make sure you come to Transition - a night where you can think through how to live for Christ at University!

Making the step from school to University can be tough. Meeting new people, engaging with new ideas, facing new temptations and, perhaps, being exposed to new religions for the first time all make the thought of going to University a daunting one for Christians. Sadly, statistics would suggest that these concerns are relatively well grounded, with some studies suggesting that as many as 70% of students who, upon arriving at University identify as Christians, end up walking away from faith altogether.

Whether or not you agree 100% with the accuracy of that statistic, it is hard to deny the reality that University can be, for many professing Christians, a breaking point. However, it’s not all bad news! What is also clear is that, for many other professing Christians, their experience is the complete opposite. For them, University is a time which they look back on as an invaluable season in their walk with God! The category of which a typical fresher falls into is usually determined by their answer to this question - ‘how prepared was I for the Spiritual challenges of University?’

Transition is an event which aims to help you answer that question in order to equip young people for the challenges they will face at University. ‘How do I make my stand for Christ amidst the diversity of world-views? What do I need to think about when choosing a new church? What do I say when I’m asked to go to that particular party?’ These are the sorts of questions we will be thinking through as we gather freshers from all over our land.

We are delighted that Andrew Curry, pastor of Emmanuel Church, will be sharing with us at Transition this year. It will be held at the Baptist Centre in Moira on 22 August, starting at 7:30pm. If you intend on coming along to Transition, we would really appreciate it if you could take the time to register. You can do this by visiting our website, www.byouth.org.

We look forward to seeing you there.
